Jona Hutson, DNP

Certified Nurse Midwife

Jona Hutson DNP is a graduate of Frontier Nursing University, the oldest and top ranked midwifery school in the United States. After graduation, she worked in a large teaching institute at University of Nebraska as a Certified Nurse Midwife where she gathered further experience delivering women’s care.

Jona relocated to Southwest Iowa in late 2017, making her the first Certified Nurse Midwife in the Shenandoah area. She offers a holistic evidence-based approach to OB-GYN care and can answer questions related to nutrition, exercise, relationships, emotions, breastfeeding and parenting in order to help individualize patient care.

Jona serves women, across the lifespan, in need of gynecologic care, preconception care, obstetrical care, delivery, postpartum care, well-women exams, contraception management, and more.

Jona started nursing career, mostly in women's health.

She received her Masters of Nursing Degree.

Jona became Nationally Certified as Nurse Midwife by American College of Nurse Midwives.

Honor Society

She was inducted into Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing.
2014

Certification

She became certified in Electronic Fetal Monitoring.
2015

Doctorate

In 2015, Jona received her Doctorate in Nursing Degree.
2017

Joined the SMC Family

Jona decided to make Shenandoah Medical Center her home, becoming the first Certified Nurse Midwife in the area.
