Educational Courses
SMC offers Basic Life Support (BLS), First Aid, and Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC). All of our resuscitation courses follow the American Heart Association (AHA) and/or the Emergency Nurses Association (ENA) guidelines, and our instructor are AHA and TNCC certified. Our courses are instructor-led in the classroom setting with hands-on practice incorporated into each course.
BLS is a nationally recognized program designed by the American Heart Association (AHA) to build the foundation for saving lives after cardiac arrest. The skills you learn in this course will enable you to recognize cardiac arrest, provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), use an automated external defibrillator (AED), and relieve choking in a quick and confident manner.
Intended audience: certified or non-certified, licensed or non-licensed healthcare professionals such as physicians, nurses, paramedics, emergency medical technicians, respiratory therapists, physical or occupational therapists, nursing students, fire fighters, police officers, or other allied health professionals.
First Aid is the immediate care provided to a person who has been injured or suddenly becomes ill before professional medical help is available. It involves simple, often life-saving techniques aimed at preserving life, preventing the condition from worsening, and promoting recovery.
Intended audience: certified or non-certified, licensed or non-licensed healthcare professionals such as physicians, nurses, paramedics, emergency medical technicians, respiratory therapists, physical or occupational therapists, nursing students, fire fighters, police officers, or other allied health professionals.
The Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) is a nationally recognized trauma education program developed by the Emergency Nurses Association to prepare nurses to confidently assess and care for trauma patients. The course focuses on rapid assessment, critical thinking, and evidence-based interventions in emergency situations.
Intended audience: TNCC is intended for emergency, trauma, critical care, and other nurses involved in the care of injured patients.
