Annual Giving Campaign 2026- Together We Answer the Call
EMS Garage Facility
Our Emergency Medical Services (EMS) team is the backbone of community safety, providing life-saving care the moment it’s needed most. However, providing this high level of service has become an uphill battle. Between rising operational costs and low insurance reimbursement rates, our department faces a substantial annual deficit that makes essential upgrades nearly impossible.
To secure the future of emergency care in Shenandoah, the Shenandoah Medical Center Foundation (SMCF) is launching a $3 Million Capital Campaign to build a modern EMS Garage Facility.
Why This Project Matters
This isn’t just a building; it’s a commitment to the safety of your family and neighbors. A modern facility is the key to faster response times, better training, and a stronger team.
The new facility will feature:
-
State-of-the-Art Ambulance Garage: A climate-controlled, professional space to maintain and protect our life-saving vehicles.
-
Modern Living Quarters: A safe, updated space where our crews can rest and remain alert during long shifts.
-
Community Training Center: A dedicated room to host public classes, including Basic Life Support (BLS) and CPR training.
-
Recruitment Power: Modern facilities attract the best paramedics and EMTs to our region, ensuring we are always ready for the next call.
Patient Spotlight- Marcy Taylor
Marcy Taylor, a valued community member of Shenandoah, had a life-changing experience in 2016. At only 35 years old, she went into sudden cardiac arrest while she was asleep. Her husband acted quickly by calling for help, and that immediate action set a life-saving chain of events in motion. As Marcy lay non-responsive, the dedicated Shenandoah Ambulance Service team refused to give up, working tirelessly for nearly 45 minutes to save her life. Reflecting on that night, Marcy states: “I owe my life to them for not giving up on me.”
Many people like Marcy recognize how essential it is to invest in our Emergency Medical Services (EMS). Marcy acknowledges, “If I had lived somewhere this wasn’t available, I wouldn’t be here.” And, like many of us, she understands the profound impact of having reliable, high-quality emergency care: “A lot of people’s lives would have been different if things had gone another way.” This is why it is critical that we invest in this vital service to take care of our community. The Taylor family was comforted to know that they had the option to receive such excellent and compassionate care just blocks from home by fellow community members.
Marcy says it best: “The people on shift that night were meant to be there to save my life.” SMCF wants to ensure that high-level of life-saving readiness is available for every person in our community, every single day. Help us make that a reality by donating to this project today.
