Jennifer Black, ARNP

Mental Health Nurse Practitioner

Jennifer was born in Florida, but raised all over the South. She lived in Florida, Alabama, and South Carolina all before she was 3! Jennifer is a widow of 6 years, and has five children, a son and four daughters, and 6 grandchildren. Her family is the world to her.

Jennifer is crafty, loves to paint, read science fiction/fantasy, and also loves to sing. At any given time, you may pass my office and find her singing! She is very involved in her church and am open to questions should you feel inclined to ask.

Once finished with school, Jennifer moved to Alaska to work in pain management collaboratively with a chiropractor for just under 2 years. She moved back to the lower 48 to be closer to her kids, working for the Medical Clinic in Hamburg as primary care and in the ER at Grape hospital for 2 years. Jennifer went back to school for Psych NP because she felt like she was treating psychiatric patients without the training. During school and COVID, she worked in South Dakota on a reservation for about 6 months and then at GRC in Glenwood for a year. Now that Jennifer has graduated (and received such a warm welcome during her clinical with Rose Walter) she is back to serve SMC patients for behavioral health!
