SMC Adds Pulmonary Provider

Shenandoah Medical Center is pleased to welcome a new Pulmonologist/Allergist/Immunologist to their healthcare team. Gary A. Koenig, MD has joined the team of Specialty Providers at Shenandoah Medical Center to serve the healthcare needs of residents in Southwest Iowa. Hospital CEO, Matt Sells states, “Whether someone is suffering from a common virus, sleep apnea, respiratory disease or asthma, our goal is to help our patients. Dr. Koenig can do just that and we are very grateful that he is joining our team.”

Dr. Koenig is a Pulmonary Disease Specialist from Omaha, Nebraska. He graduated with honors from Creighton University School of Medicine in 1981. Having more than 38 years of diverse experiences, especially in pulmonary disease, allergy/immunology, Dr. Koenig affiliates with many area hospitals including Nebraska Methodist Hospital, Methodist Jennie Edmundson, Chi Health Lakeside, as well as cooperating with many other doctors and specialists without joining any medical groups. Allergist-Immunologists treat disorders of the immune system, including food, insect and respiratory allergies, eczema, asthma, COPD, and chronic cough.
