Nurse Practitioner

Kristen Thatcher, ARNP

Kristen Thatcher, ARNP is a Family Nurse Practitioner at the SMC Clinic and covers the Walk-In Clinic as well. Kristen received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Missouri Western State University in 2002. In 2014, she went back to school for her Masters of Science in Nursing at Graceland University. Kristen truly enjoys working as a primary care provider, and building strong relationships with her patients and their families. When she's not taking care of patients, Kristen loves spending time with her family, reading a good book, crafting and watching movies.

Registered Dietitian

Shala Augustine, MS, RD, LD

Shala joined Shenandoah Medical Center in May of 2015. She graduated from Northwest Missouri State University with a Bachelor of Science: Foods and Nutrition Degree. Shala completed her Dietetic Internship through the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center. In 2018 Shala went back to school and completed her Master of Science in Nutrition and Human Performance. She enjoys working with inpatients and outpatients within the hospital, but also loves promoting nutrition education and awareness within the community. She hopes to grow SMC’s dietetic programs to be able to offer more opportunities for patients and community members to promote overall wellbeing.

Personal Trainer

Nikki Carlson, CPT

Nikki joined Shenandoah Medical Center in January of 2002. She graduated from Central College with a Bachelor of Science: Cooperate Wellness and Exercise Science. Nikki is currently the Director of Wellness at SMC. She oversees the Employee Wellness Program and Personal Training Departments. The Personal Training team designs programs for student athletes all the way up to elderly adults. Nikki enjoys working with clients of all ages. She says the greatest reward is seeing someone achieve their wellness goals, and realizing that they can achieve them with a little effort.
