Family Nurse Practitioner

I am a nurse practitioner that specializes in family practice. I worked as a CNA, LPN, and RN prior to obtaining my master’s degree. I have a back ground as a nurse working in the long term and skilled care as well as working at Creighton University Medical Center as a resource nurse. As a resource nurse I was assigned to many different units including: Intensive Care, Cardiac Critical Care, Post Intensive Care, Medical /Surgical floor, Orthopedics, Neurology and Trauma patients. I ended my nursing career working in the post anesthesia care unit at Creighton University Medical Center. I graduated in 2017 from Clarkson College with my Master’s in Nursing specializing in the Family Practice Nurse Practitioner role. I have always lived in the rural setting in Iowa and knew I wanted to serve the rural Iowa community as a Nurse Practitioner. I now am one of two providers who provide care in the walk-in clinic. I have really enjoyed my time in Shenandoah and enjoy taking care of acutely ill patients and assisting them on their road to recovery the best way I can by providing evidenced based care.

Family Nurse Practitioner

Why did you choose to become a nurse/nurse practitioner?
I truly enjoy working as a primary care provider. My mother is a nurse and I remember her working hard to further her career in nursing by going back to school when I was young. She has always loved being a nurse. So when it was time for me to decide what I wanted to do for a career, I decided to become a nurse in the hope that I would enjoy the profession as much as my mother. It was a good decision.
When I graduated from my Masters in Nursing Science / Family Nurse Practitioner program, my search for a position brought me back to the area to become a member of the SMC family.
Hobbies/Interests
I love spending time with my family, reading a good book, crafts and watching movies.
